Emily and Wes met in Missoula, Montana at the urging of mutual friends in 2012. After an ordinary date or two, they actually went separate ways with separate people for awhile before giving it another try (after even more urgings from mutual friends!). Finally after (believe it or not), a first dance together at the Union Club in the fall of 2013, Emily and Wes started falling for each other. They spent an exciting first winter together in love.
Soon after, their relationship was put to the test for eight months of long distance. Emily left Missoula for a permaculture internship on Orcas Island in Washington State that next spring. They both remember this long distance as exciting, romantic, and absolutely terrifying – a period of growth and tension for sure as they both wondered if their relationship could make it. Before Emily left, she hid a note for Wes that he found months later with the quote, "Leap and the net will appear." Following this extended bout of long distance, Emily returned to Missoula, eager to leap into the next stage of their relationship
Since then, Wes and Emily have been steadily learning to lean into each other. They support, love and challenge each other. Their love has taken them on trips to wild places (highlights include kayaking in Baja, mistakenly bushwhacking 14 miles up the Escalante River, rafting wild rivers, and loads of camping and backpacking in Western Montana). They love all things nature, walking in the woods, foraging, and growing veggies together, as well as spending time with the friends and family that make their lives whole.
In Spring 2018, the two bought their first home on a half-acre on the edge of town with plenty of room for their chickens and pup Ruby. They look forward to building their own homestead of sorts.
Wes and Emily decided to make it official on July 7, 2018, with a mountain top proposal in Montana's amazing Bob Marshall Wilderness.
And so, here we are. The adventures continue...
Grey Wolf Ranch is approximately 25 minutes from the town of Seeley Lake, Montana and 5 miles on dirt roads past Placid Lake State Park.
Family, the wedding party, and close friends will gather together for an informal rehearsal and dinner.
A casual morning after the party, so we can see everyone one last time. We'll provide plenty of hot coffee and simple breakfast options.
Everyone is welcome to join us for drinks and desserts following the rehearsal dinner. We'll have a fire, yard games, gourmet s'mores, and daylight until 10 pm! We hope to see you all here!
